The Garden of Small Beginnings | Abbi Waxman

Following the death of her husband, Lili has finally resumed a ‘normal life’ as a working mother (successful illustrator) of two girls. When Lili is commissioned to illustrate a vegetable encyclopedia, she agrees to attend a gardening class. It is here where she nurtures both plants and friendships.

My bookclub’s rating: 9.5/10

This book was a very easy and pleasant read – it made me smile! A lot of characters but not too hard to grasp. Also quite a different concept – I have never read a fiction book about a gardening Mum. I really enjoyed the chapter openings which consist of an information page about how to grow different vegetables.
